Celebrate The First Full Moon of Spring

It’s the first full moon of spring, so why not acknowledge the beautiful phenomena we get to experience each month by making the occasion extra special with a few easy rituals that anyone can complete with little time and materials?

Spring is a time of fresh starts and revitalizing energy in nature and ourselves, and it only takes a few small intentional steps in our daily lives, such as romanticizing the full moon, that can make monumental differences in our happiness.

Here are 3 tangible ways you can celebrate the first full moon of spring in 5-minutes:

1. Learn The Lore of The Worm Moon

Learning a fun fact to share with people we love or scribble in our journal is an easy action to inspire fulfillment, such as learning about the full moon that falls near the end of March.

The first full moon of spring has dawned many nicknames, each symbolizing the thawing of winter into the warmer season:

  • Worm Moon: Earthworms emerge from the thawed winter ground, attracting birds returning for the spring season.

  • Crow Moon: A crow’s caw is said to signify the winter season coming to an end.

  • Sap Moon: Annual maple tapping begins at the turn of spring.

There’s plenty more to learn about the history of moon nicknames, but even if this paragraph is all you take in, the simple act of acknowledging which full moon we are experiencing and how it received its identities can help us stay rooted in this moment as a special day of the year to be treated with wonder and romanticism.

2. Wiggle And Stretch In The Moonlight

Everyone has five minutes in their evening to step outside and look at the moon, so why not get out of our heads and into our bodies while we’re at it?

Let’s go outside and move our bodies under the moonlit sky, allowing the thoughts to relax into the way it feels to shake our limbs with chaotic choreography that loosens our tension.

Breathe in the full moon energy as we stretch, wiggle, dance it out, or lean into whatever dynamic movement calls to us.

3. Write A Gratitude List In The Spirit of Spring Beginnings

While spring is a time for manifesting dreams and new beginnings, it is important to stay grounded in our roots and express gratitude for all that we have.

Expressing gratitude comes in many forms, from calling a friend and telling them how much we love them to meditating on our appreciation for the people and circumstances in our lives.

Let’s sit down for 5 minutes, grab a tea or another fun beverage, light a candle, and handwrite a list of anything you can think of that you’re grateful for.

You will be lighter, happier, and more in tune with the goodness in the world, which is one of the best feelings to exist.

Romanticizing a day of the year to make it special rather than allowing it to be brushed off as regular, like a full moon or another celestial event, brings magic into our lives like we used to experience as kids.

Take a few moments to draw attention to this luminescent phase of the lunar cycle and embrace the full moon with a ritual that brings you joy.
